Youth and Women for Development is a non-profit, on-partisan, non-secretarial and innovative Charitable Community Based Organization in Serere District with core interventions addressing Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Education, Agriculture, Health, Climate change and Food security, poverty, Women Development, Natural Disasters(prolonged drought, floods ,famine) ,Humanitarian and Emergencies Health and HIV/AIDS awareness, Education-Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics [STEM],Provision of SPORTS/Football and equipment’s including training and development, Orphan and Vulnerable Children, providing high quality Education for children especially the OVC’s, Women, Girls, Good governance, peace and human rights, Water Hygiene and sanitation, drilling of boreholes and construction of shallow wells and springs, transformation of the slum dwellers and street children. YWD was established in 2017 by youth and women volunteers to provide support to the weakest, poorest and marginalized social groups such as children ,Women, Adolescent girls, elderly, Female Sex workers, disabled, OVCs, street children, children living HIV/AIDS, PHAs, MARPS Children with disabilities, Children subjected to child labor, women with low income, LGBTIQ and the general community. The VISSION of YWD “To bring together both rural and urban vulnerable communities most especially Youth, Women and Children to reach their full potential which enhance their livelihood”. The MISSION of YWD is “To empower, educate, train and motivate Youth and Women to reach Entrepreneurship development, productivity and growth through creative and innovative initiatives that increase access to education, health care and sustainable living through income generating activities” and the GOAL is “To improve the health status of House Holds in rural communities through providing support and capacity Building, health and sexual and reproductive health, nutrition, clean, safe, secure water sources and environmental water and sanitation development by helping Young people in vulnerable remote communities in Teso escape poverty through increased education, good health initiatives and sustained livelihoods and Improve People’s livelihoods and create self-sustaining communities, providing quality educational services to the Orphaned and Vulnerable Children(OVCs) through construction of schools that is primary, secondary and vocational institute”.
